New Asigra feature: Grid clients
Grid Computing has been an element of heavyweight data processing for years. It’s been used for everything from finding a cure to AIDS to searching for little green men. Being able to dynamically spread tasks across several low-end systems rather than a single powerful one reduces costs and speeds throughput. Asigra Televaulting’s client software has a big job to do every night. Compression and encryption are not trivial processes and it has happened in the past that the PC assigned to the task wasn’t up to the job, which resulted in backups not completing as quickly as they could, and in some cases being halted at the end of the backup window.
Asigra Televaulting 8.0 introduces a grid configuration for Windows clients. This allows you to have a master system and one or more slave systems with the processing load dynamically distributed evenly across the systems. Fault tolerance is also improved because any system can fail and the grid will stay operational. If the master system fails, one of the slave systems will automatically take it’s place and the backups will keep on running. This is a free feature for all customers.
